I will be the first to admit that I am not a website expert. This has actually been pointed out to me by a user, so apologies all around if you are on this site and unimpressed. My main goal here has been to make a spot on the web where any of you craft beer lovers or curious bystanders (jump in! The beer’s fine!) can come once we finally open to find where we are and to discern if our tasting room is open at the very moment you need a freshtastycraftbeer. We’ll all just have to put up with the warts and lack of gloss – people, we’re putting website development pennies toward fermenters. You can thank me now. Or later.
However, if you happen to thank me via a comment on this site, it may be deleted without being posted. Not because we don’t love that someone actually commented, but because it may get buried in the myriad comments some random spambots are sending our way. I imagine anyone who has been an administrator on a website knows of this phenomenon, but it was news to me. Apparently the more websites you comment on with some sort of pingback or trackback or link to your own website, the more gold stars you get from Google and Yahoo and Search Engine XYZ. So folks have either figured out (brains!) how to randomly send comments to every domain name on earth, or they’ve paid (pennies!) someone to do it for them. And the longer your site’s around, the more of these bots find you. Yesterday we received 15 comments. Not one came from anyone having any interest in freshtastycraftbeer. One was, however, touting a (or the?) Bionic Yam (I’m not kidding, people.)
I hate to think that some of you out there are not administering a site and therefore don’t know about these wonderful other sites and their comments. So here, for your edification and enjoyment, a sampling:
Under the heading of, “Maybe they’ll post it if I fool them into thinking I’m complimenting them. But, OOPS!! Google Translate!”
Comment: Its like you learn my thoughts! You seem to know a lot about this, such as you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you just can do with some percent to force the message house a little bit, however instead of that, this is excellent blog. A fantastic read. I'll definitely be back.
Forcing the message house seems like something I’m not eager to do. Preaching the gospel of freshtastycraftbeer, yes. Too bad the writer didn’t put that word in there because I surely want to approve a comment that calls this “a fantastic read”.
We’re all about the trees, so I’m really glad for this one.
Comment: I am fond of your article. Your article is like a big tree, so that we can be sitting in your tree, feel yourself a real. I feel very moved, very happiness....
Here was a use for our site that I didn’t anticipate:
Comment: I'm gone to convey my little brother, that he should also visit this website on regular basis to take updated from hottest news.
Because an in-development craft brewery site truly is the best place to get your hottest news. Bookmark it now and go convey your brother.
Backing this up is jglamvp, with his/her/its comment, “I can just visit here and see all the latest happenings in the world.” Yep, right here at the Horse & Dragon construction site, all the latest happenings.
And while you’re looking for the latest happenings in the world, you can perhaps also pick up some tips on other endeavors:
Comment: Need some form of potty training child advice on potty training boys. You can do it too, and without a lot of reassurance and countless trips to the potty chair.
Undoubtedly.
Short and sweet, but not as likely to fool me into accepting (possibly not sent from a spambot), but quite likely my favorite is this, from Катарина:
Comment: You will be the worst author.
Gracias, Катарина.
For folks blatantly trying to sell their stuff, apparently Horse & Dragon’s website is a magnet. Should you be interested, we can point you toward any number of NFL jersey knock-off companies. Just get in touch. [I can’t tell you how it pains me to delete a comment that mentions the Green Bay Packers or embeds Aaron Rodgers’s name in it. Alsotoo, someone sending us comments is praying for Reggie’s right knee, so that’s a relief for you Colts fans out there.] Recently, France, as a nation, has discovered our website. Vivianne Westwood submitted something that appears to be written in Korean, so I applaud either her multilingualism or her ability to choose an English name that sounds great (or both). Cheap Louis Vuitton Canada urges, “Don’t blindly! We must believe ourself.” CHER commented on our site. (Unfortunately, she is apparently not a craft beer connoisseur because she was just listing 8 million Ugg boots sites.)
As well, there’s this:
Comment: It will not be available about download until September 3, 2010. Harry Peter is a popular article writer for online shopping products and solutions. The most common are low-top and mid-top. This has enables Nike setting relatively higher prices than its competitors.
Ed. note: Harry Peter is not right on several levels. And I'm stumped by the connection to Nike.
So for anyone who might actually read these posts, and to dihufoforaxi -- I should probably Urban Dictionary that; I hope it's not foul -- whose Arabic script I could not read, HOWDY and please keep those comments coming! We can’t wait to meet you in the taproom.
Oh and by the way, Tatum and I tried our Thanksgiving Ale. It was delicious (according to some) and okay (according to me). The beauty of craft beer. One person’s “eh” is another’s “amazing!”
On to Linsey’s winter warmer.
