Construction of a Brewery!

We're making a home for Horse & Dragon Brewing Company -- at long last! This is about a 4-month process that has so far been full of -- er -- learning episodes.   Here you see the results of hiring a stormwater runoff and drainage engineer (yes, such a thing exists, apparently) who tells you and various authorities that your lot's grade is so slight that only perfect cement will allow big stormwater to run off correctly.

Our cement was so special (and so was the weather that greeted it), that it got to have its own electric thermal blanket for a few days, powered by this puppy:

[Our future parking lot needed an electric blanket.]
Poor Mama's Boys has looked like this a lot in the past few months:

And now, saddest (or happiest, depending on your perspective) of all, the mascot has been covered up to protect him from future tank and packaging spillage:

He's still there, never fear.  A spirit of the brewery.

If you're worried that the neighborhood is losing all its character, I think you can still find this out back:

[He looked a bit chilly, so Sarah leant him her hat.]
There's been a whole lot of meetings about drainage and piping and water pressure and whatnot.  This is all, of course, vital for a brewery, and the process has been lengthy and labored.  Next time you're in any warehouse, please take a moment to admire the drains.

Meetings.  And more meetings.

[One of the best things about a bar --
it draws people together to confer.]
There's been a lot of perching atop the tall ladder:

We have had a couple of days with friends and family really pitching in:

For e.g., Sean & Ray basically engineered and put up a wall (be careful if you say you want to help out the Cos):

and made a custom support with the tools at hand.]
Here's the almost-finished wall, making a meal of TimCo:

We've learned some things along the way.

The best day was light day:

[The poor Horse & Dragon being cut into -- but it's all for a good cause:  light!]

We've seen more than a few of these in the past 2 months:

Fortunately, Colorado provides some beautiful ones.

There might have been some letting-off-of-steam.

[Horse & Dragon's neighborhood pub --
which happily happens, at the moment, to be the Odell taproom.]

[Marvin Gaye might have been involved.]
Picture
[The Mayor of Old Town's beer fridge. Highly impressive.]

I recall a trip or two to The Mayor, but only on union-sanctioned work breaks.

Currently, we're going endless rounds with paint paraphernalia.  If you search for paint imperfections when you stop in for a beer this spring, you will be highly satisfied.

There's been more cleaning than you can shake a stick at, and there's no end to that in sight.

But it's getting on toward "Welcome" time.  We're excited!  (And exhausted.)

See you in a few!

Next up:  tank installation. Wooooooot!
